Teach ESL with the Bible

Tips for Teachers

As I look forward to the publication of our first book of lesson plans based on Bible texts, I wish I could have included in it more classroom tips for ESL teachers. Instead, let’s have a place for teachers here on the Learn English with the Bible website. I hope this information will help you whether you are just starting with a group of learners in a classroom at your church, or whether you have been teaching for years and just need a little encouragement.

A List of Helpful Articles for ESL Teachers

Below is a list of topics that I hope will be relevant to you as you work with your learners. Many of them are things I didn’t learn in my TEFL or CELTA classes. I think of the several years I spent with my students, and the things I learned from them as well as from other teachers at my school.

The first article in this new Teacher Section is about whether or not to use the International Phonetic Alphabet as you teach pronunciation. More articles will be coming soon.
